RCA projection television

Projection television technology isn’t anything new and in fact has been around since the early 1970s. The only reason why protection televisions lost focus was because of the superior sharpness quality of CRT units that stood ground in the later years. Although CRT units have finally been taken over by the reigning LCD and plasma flat panels, projection televisions still cause a stir with their own comeback due to improving technologies and now find their place in the HDTV world.

RCA is a company that isn’t very new too, but now they currently stand in a circle of 4 other competitors in the projection television market and focus their approach on latest DLP technologies. While no single RCA projection television can be found on RCA’s website due to the growing demand of LCD displays, older RCA projection television models can still be found in some stores and many places online due their larger screens at cheaper costs.

Is this tough economy, having a good home entertainment system is all about getting good deals. Some people cannot afford the latest lineup of HDTV displays because of their high prices. These prices are high because of the many features and technologies that the displays incorporate and all of these features may not be a big deal to some. Some people care about size alone and want something that is big enough and looks exceptional.

Take the RCA projection television HD61LPW42 model for instance. It is classified as a 61” widescreen HDTV with integranted ATSC and QAM tuner costing only $1200. That is the equivalent price to a modern 40” display that is hot on features. Still the older RCA projection television models like the SCENIUM HD61LPW165 still impress with a good feature set including HD connectivity with HDMI and their old CinemaScreen and NetConnect technologies which are responsible for more vibrant images and simultaneous web surfing via Ethernet respectively.

The DLP technology which is exclusive to projection TV’s like the RCA projection television has its own advantages including their slim profiles that can stand up to LCD’s and excellent black levels and contrast ratios. The DMD chip that is housed in the TV can easily be replaced or repaired due to its size and does not experience sliding door effects and dead pixels. It also sports better viewing angles than older projectors.

To the average consumer, models like the RCA projection TV’s still manage to be solid solutions for watching TV or movies. They may have a few disadvantages like the 5 to 7 year lifespan of the lamp before it needs a replacement, but lamps can also be bought online. These TV’s may age over time, but their decreasing prices will always create a small crowd where people can finally benefit from large television displays that fit their budget. Quality is by no means sacrificed and only a few modern features separate RCA projection televisions from the existing lineup of RCA LCD displays and other competitors out in the market today.
