I have a HITACHI 52" rear proj tv. 4 years old, cost me $1300 at Sam's. If the bulb/s were to go out soon, it would be more cost effective for me to buy a new HD tv. I calculate the value of my tv has gone down to about $500, if not less. Would it be cost effective to have it repaired? only if it was $200 or less to fix. I love this tv. However, pretty soon with the technology changing so fast, it will get harder to find parts to fix these obsolete rear projection tv's. I hope this helped you decide. Good luck!
References :
First of all how old is it....having it fixed will cost you about 700 bucks.....1/2 the price of a new HDTV. If it's a bulb, you can find bulbs on the net and sometimes you can put them in yourself....but you need to make sure its the bulb in the first place.....But really, if its projection, and NOT an HDTV I would bite the bullet an purchase a new one. You'd get the best out of your money on it..
